Cameron Russell: Looks aren't everything.

I thought that this was a very interesting video; it’s amazing how much your perceptions of people are based on their appearance. I would love for you to watch this video, it about Cameron Russell who is a model and she admits that she has won the genetic lottery. She is a tall pretty underwear model but does not want to be defined by just her looks.

It’s amazing how in 10 seconds by changing her outfit Cameron can transform what you think of her, this can relate to our everyday life. Judging people by what they wear and how the dress seams to always be on peoples minds. This is because image is powerful but can also be superficial and how you dress can have a huge impact on your life. We define beauty by tall slender figures but why? Everyone is beautiful in their own way and people shouldn’t strive to be something they are not. The other thing that I love about this video was how she explained how pictures are constructed by the photographer and designers ideas. The photo is of the model but it isn’t her. The lighting, makeup, hair and clothes are all put together to construct and create a final image. This final image defines the brand not the model, as how they or you look and dress shouldn’t define who you are.

Another point that really disturbed me was that 78% of 17 year old girls in the US don’t like their bodies. I did some of my own research and found that one in two Australian teenage girls have dieted and more than half are unhappy with their bodies. This is crazy. In reality both females and males bodies come in all different shapes and sizes and therefore it is so unrealistic to have only one body style as beautiful.

This video really opened up my eyes and I hope it did for you too

BE HAPPY
  • So i have been so busy with exams so i haven't had much of a chance to post... but i found this amazing 16 steps to happiness and i needed to share it! Some of it is cheesy but its so cute and made me smile and I'm going to try and incorporate some of the steps into my every day life..

****************************************************

  1. push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise.

    2. push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable.

    3. erase processed food from your diet. start with no lollies, chips, biscuits, then erase pasta, rice, cereal, then bread. use the rule that if a child couldn’t identify what was in it, you don’t eat it.

    4. get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else.

    5. stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything.

    6. buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.

    7. buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small.

    8. strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full.

    9. organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle.

    10. have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck.

    11. push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog.

    12. message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through.

    14. think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything.

    15. become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends.

    16. lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.

Glitterati shoot

These are some behind the scenes photos from a photo shoot i did last Wednesday. It was for my friend Sienna's uni project where they had to create a new band and style them. She was part of a team that included Ross, Vicky and Kim who were awesome fun to work with! The band was called Glitterati, we were an up and coming girl band all had different characters to play. It was so much fun pretending to be some sassy bitch (which was my character)! We had a 90's inter galactic style and an electronic sound that was similar to Grimes. The photos were for a street poster and fashion editorial, we did both group shots and individuals all in character. The other models were also so much fun to work with too, Laura being the crazy chick, Lutece being the cutie kind of like baby spice and Cheyney who was sporty and cool.

Laura and i getting our hair and makeup done!

Who doesn't love a cheeky bathroom selfie, changed into the costume..

The hair and makeup was so cool it was a sliver eye with dark eye liner and define eye brows, we also had the sliver bindies on out faces. We all had them in different places but it still looked cohesive as one band we also had different lips, mine were a slivery blue which was awesome! My hair was loosely curled.

Above are some of the instagramed and behind the scenes shots that people have uploaded!

AND THESE ARE SOME OF THE FINAL SHOTS!!

Had such a great day and cant wait to see more of final photos, they turned out so well!!

STREET STYLE

On Saturday I did a photo shoot for a friend Zoe who is doing visual merchandising at RMIT. She choose street and sports style for this shoot and had to style the whole thing! I loved the clothes that she chose they were all so comfy and cool. We had a lot of fun shooting and I had to get my angry face on which was funny for me to do because I'm so used to doing smiling happy shoots! Decided to post some of the behind the scenes shots and the professional ones later in the week!

Instagramed shots..

The hair and makeup was also amazing, they did a brown/natural smokey eye and nude lip!

Cant wait to see the final shots!
